“Leo cây” bao gồm 2 nghĩa:
Nghĩa đen: leo/trèo lên một cái cây
Nghĩa bóng: Chờ đợi một ai đó nhưng người đó không đến như đã hẹn
• To stand somebody up/to miss an appointment:
Tao cho anh ấy leo cây rồi. Đợt trước ảnh bắt tao đợi 3 tiếng đồng hồ.
I’ve decided to stand him up. Last time, I had to await him for 3 hours.
• To be stood up by somebody: Bị cho leo cây
– Sao đi chơi về sớm vậy? Why are you back already?
– Bị cho leo cây rồi – I was stood up. (We promised to meet each other but he doesn’t show up)
“Leo cây” has 2 meanings:
– Literal meaning: to climb (up) a tree
– Implied meaning: to miss an appointment, to stand somebody up. So, this word is often used in the situation that someone is waiting for someone else but unfortunately he/she doesn’t show up.
