7. “Thủ Thiêm tunnel is under Thủ Thiêm bridge?”

This seems to be true, but it’s not. Thủ Thiêm bridge connects the two shores of Sài Gòn river and located in district 2 and Bình Thạnh district. Meanwhile, Thủ Thiêm tunnel is a part of West-East Avenue project and is located in district 1.

Many people mistake these two are near each other. But in fact, they are 3km apart.

8. Chợ Lớn (big market) is actually not a market.

Chợ Lớn is used to refer to the large area consisting of district 5, district 6, district 10 and a part of district 11. Chợ Lớn, or Chinese district, in Ho Chi Minh City is the largest community of ethnic Chinese in Vietnam.  Tourists can find almost anything they need.
