Learning Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City – Live in Vietnamese

According to Ph.D. Lê Trung Hoa, before 2005, Sài Gòn had around 100 different streets that bore the same name. Now that number has gone up to over 200.

The reason for this lies in the fact that there were 3 separate administrative units which were each in charge of naming their own streets, including Chợ Lớn, Sài Gòn and Gia Định. After 1975, these 3 sectors unified into one Hồ Chí Minh City.

Nhất = Number 1

Nhì = Number 2

Tân Sơn Nhì is a street in Tân Phú district lying 7km from Tân Sơn Nhất airport in Tân Bình district.
