If you have a chance to visit Saigon, pay a visit to Cần Giờ. Cần Giờ Biosphere Reserve is a wetland, located 40 km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City. This reserve has been listed as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO.
The site is an important wildlife sanctuary in Vietnam as it is characterized by a wetland biosystem dominated by mangrove and many rare species. Cần Giờ is also very attractive because of its delicious sea food, due to its 13km coast line, where clams are raised naturally. Everyday, Cần Giờ receives a rich amount of sediment from Đồng Nai and Soài Rạprivers, which is why CầnGiờ sea food grows very fast and has a natural sweetness. In order to travel to Cần Giờ, you can go by bus or by motorbike, which takes about 2,5 hours. There are plenty of restaurants, hotels and resorts which you can book if you plan to stay at Cần Giờ for a few days. If you are learning Vietnamese at VLS, they are organizing a fieldtrip to Can Gio on 19/04/2015.
